YVCC articulation for credit agreement
There are three easy steps for students to obtain YVCC credit for Tech Prep Courses:

Earn a B grade or better in a class that earns Tech Prep Credit (see list below)

Submit name to teacher as desiring credit and teacher emails Tech Prep Coordinator at YVCC

At the YVCC Tech Prep office, simply pay $15 one time fee for paperwork and receive credit for any and all Tech Prep courses covered in the articulation agreement.

Supply Costs: Students must purchase their own metal for special projects.
Course Overview
This course will give students the opportunity to develop skills in working with metal. Part of the course is devoted to shop safety, careers in the agricultural industry, and theories and concepts behind metal fabrication. More time will be focused on developing skills of working with power and hand tools, arc welding, oxy-acetylene welding, MIG welding, plasma cutting, and sheet metal working. Students will apply these skills to special projects.
Student Learning Objectives
As a result of required instruction the student will be able to:
1. Demonstrate basic safety for each piece of shop equipment
2. Skillfully use taps, dies, and drill bits
3. Identify different types and purposes of metal
4. Demonstrate basic skills in metallurgy and soldering
5. Skillfully complete a variety of oxy-fuel cutting projects
6. Practice basic skills in arc, oxy-acetylene, and MIG welding
7. Properly use and adjust oxygen, acetylene, and MIG welding gasses
8. Read and use a variety of measuring tools
9. Complete a project that utilizes the above skills
