National Mall Sculptures
~6 critiques~
This assignment is explained in the A+ Study and the A+ Essay section for the "Field Trip." Please read each and every screen! Print the worksheet that has the writing prompts for each of the 4 areas of critique. Answering each of those questions (for each sculpture) will complete the assignment. Please create a very simple system for labeling and numbering your answers so it is easy to see that you addressed each question.
The writing should be HS level, but can be more like notes during an observation instead of formal paragraphs, if that is easier for you. Take your time to read the brochures, look at the sculpture and use the art vocabulary you learned in the lessons (and reviewed in the Study).
After you have completed all 6 critiques, please create a cover page with your name, the name of the class and a picture of your favorite sculpture (of these six). On this cover page include a short paragraph stating why that is your favorite sculpture, why you'd like to visit it, or what you thought when you did visit it (if you have been to DC). Please turn in all of the critiques stapled together with this cover page on top.
GRADING
| A | This neatly organized packet shows that the student tried to truly appreciate the sculptures and tried to apply the principles of art learned in the class. The organization makes it easy to see that each question was answered for each sculpture. There are few typos or erros to distract from the reading. |
| B | This packet includes a cover page (with required elements) and 6 critiques. The critiques could be better organized or more complete, but the student tried to answer each question using some of the art vocabulary. |
