Ron Galbreath has been the Boy's Golf Coach at West Valley High School for the last 19 seasons. Prior to his retirement in 2007, he taught elementary P.E. at Ahtanum Elementary and Mountainview Elementary. Coach Galbreath has been playing golf for more than 40 years, first taking up the game when he was in middle school and high school. During his tenure as boys' golf coach at West Valley, he has transformed the West Valley Boys' Golf Program into one of the most competitive teams in Eastern Washington. He has helped lead the team to 6 League Championships, 9 District Championships, 5 Regional Championships and 2nd, 4th, 5th and 7th place finishes at the WIAA State Tournament. Beside making the team extremely competitive on the course, he has also made it competitive in the classroom. In 2005, the team had the 7th best team GPA of all 3A teams in the state. The next two years the team finished with the 3rd best GPA and this year received 2nd place. When not coaching, Coach Galbreath likes to play golf with his wife Angela and go see movies.

Assistant Coach Doug Snipes. . .
Ron Galbreath
This is the first season that Doug Snipes has served as the Assistant Boys' Golf Coach at West Valley High School. Coach Snipes began playing seriously when he was a senior at Central Washington University. "[I] was terrible but loved to compete. [I] marveled at the way some guys could work the ball either way with the wind in Ellensburg. I wanted to be able to do that too, so I focused on learning the golf swing." He now carries a 4 handicap and won the 2003 Club Championship at Apple Tree Golf Course. The thing that Coach Snipes enjoys most about coaching is seeing the kids make progress. "There is something magical and satisfying about seeing a young person get excited about his or her ability to do something they didn't think they were capable of." When he's not coaching, Coach Snipes enjoys hanging out with his sons Steven and Sam, attending Bible Study, skiing, boating, writing and playing guitar.
