Hard Work- A West Valley Volleyball Player works hard in practice and games. A West Valley Volleyball Team always plays with great heart, desire, and hustle.

 

What does this look like?

·        Hustle at all times.

·        Never giving up in practice or games.

·        Being more relentless than your opponent.

·        Having NO regrets, and NO excuses.

·        Strive to get better every day, every drill, every game.

·        Being coachable, and accepting constructive criticism

 

Unselfishness- A West Valley Volleyball Player is an unselfish player who is dedicated to the success of the team and firmly believes that the best interest of the team comes first. A West Valley Volleyball Team has genuine chemistry where the players support each other and accept their roles.

 

What does this look like?

·        Players look out for each other on and off the court

·        The team has a family atmosphere

·        Seeing players on the court communicating throughout the game.

·        When a player is coming out of the game, you stand up and give the person a “five.”

·        You are never publicly critical of teammates, coaches, or yourself.

·        Knowing your role, accepting it, and doing your best to fulfill it.

·        When on the bench you are encouraging the team with enthusiasm.

·        Everyone appreciating the contributions of all members of the team.

·        Players are willing to make individual sacrifices for the betterment of the team.

·        Doing things together off the court.

·        Not getting caught up in the individual glory, attention, or honors.

·        Take responsibility for your actions.

·        Be disciplined!

 

Class- A West Valley Volleyball Player demonstrates class on the court, in the classroom, and in the community. A West Valley Volleyball Team takes pride in their behavior, appearance, and sportsmanship.

 

What does this look like?

·        Acting responsibly in public and in the community.

·        Being a positive role model for younger kids to observe.

·        Displaying outstanding sportsmanship in victory and defeat.

·        Not responding negatively to officials, coaches, or team members-verbally or body language.

·        You take pride in keeping facilities neat and clean.

·   Being respectful and a leader in the classroom.
