Changes to Senior Yearbook Portraits

Senior Families,

We have made some changes regarding senior yearbook portraits. We understand senior portraits are a fun and exciting part of your student’s senior year, and the intention is not to replace any photography seniors may have planned for personal use. However, not all students have access to professional photography for their senior yearbook portrait.  This has created a clear visual difference in the quality of portraits submitted to the yearbook; sometimes no portrait is submitted at all! We want all students to feel important and valued and eliminate stress for families regarding yearbook portraits. This year we will provide the same high-level professional photography to ALL West Valley seniors, for their yearbook portrait, at no cost. We see this as an opportunity to create equity among our students.

Parsons professional photography will be on campus during a school day to take senior portraits for the yearbook.  Tuxes and drapes will be provided for use in the portraits. These portraits will also be available to order. All portraits will be uniform and professional. This will also create a cohesive and visually pleasing portrait section in the yearbook.

This idea was initiated and organized by our Yearbook students and supported by our 2020 class officers. We are proud of our student leadership for creating opportunities to include all seniors in these special milestones of senior year.

More information will be provided before senior portraits which are scheduled for January.
